This short 4-day week, we will finish up studying our final environmental issue in Latin America - oil drilling in Venezuela. We will finish up our PPT with Slides 57 - 73 as students fill in the final column in their graphic organizer. Students will then decide on one of the three issues presented to use in our Environmental Issues Superhero Project. The project will be due Thursday and students will have Tuesday through Thursday in class to work on this. Details are attached below. For homework this week, students will follow written directions to design a bumper sticker to convince others who read it to solve one of these environmental issues. On Thursday, students will take a quiz that covers our first section of our Latin America Unit including the following learning targets: SS6G1a. and b. I can locate selected features of Latin America and the Caribbean: Amazon River, Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico, Pacific Ocean, Panama Canal, Andes Mountains, Sierra Madre Mountains, Atacama Desert, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Haiti, Mexico, Panama, and Venezuela. SS6G2a. I can explain the causes, solutions, and effects of the environmental issues of air pollution in Mexico City, Mexico, deforestation in Brazil’s rainforest, and oil drilling in Venezuela.
