I was so excited in the fall to listen to and watch the students present their 7C's deck activities to the class. However, it was quite hard to fit everyone in at the last minute when 4 activities were due. Please, Please, Please work with your child to complete all 14 tasks WAY BEFORE the due date of April 18th. We highly recommend that you have your child complete the tasks related to the school focus each month. This month's focus is CURIOSITY! I have attached a copy of the Seven C's Deck! Not all of the activities require a presentation, but for those that due, the students can present during homeroom time each morning. Please have your student check with me the day before to schedule their presentation.
I have attached the permission slip for our field trip NEXT TUESDAY! Please send a completed form and payment ASAP. There were many students absent last Monday when we sent this home. PLUS, it was a pretty crazy week, so I can understand this getting "misplaced". Can't wait to see my students tomorrow! :-)
Field trip permission slips went home Monday, February 10.
Our field trip to the Museum of History & Holocaust Education (http://www.kennesaw.edu/historymuseum/) is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb 25 at 10am. Normally, I wouldn't wait so long, however, all of these unscheduled days off have thrown my plan awry! Therefore, it is imperative that the permission slip and payment are returned ASAP. I will tape the receipt in your child's agenda upon receipt of payment. Admission is FREE and parents are welcome to attend. As we are taking a charter bus, there will only be a couple of seats available on the bus. But, you are welcome to follow the bus or just meet us there. Our plan is to leave school at 8:30 and return around 3ish - all depends on traffic. If you don't go with us, please plan to be at the end of the car-rider line, in case we are running late. The location of our field trip is: KSU Center 3333 Busbee Drive Kennesaw, GA Our tour is scheduled to begin at 10 am and last two hours. When we finish, we plan to reload the buses and go to lunch at The Varsity 2790 Town Center Dr NW Kennesaw GA 30144 A menu can be found at http://www.allmenus.com/ga/acworth-kennesaw/259245-the-varsity/menu/ so you can estimate how much money to send if your child chooses to buy their lunch. As always, your child can choose a sack lunch from school or bring their own. PLEASE NOTE HIS/HER LUNCH CHOICE ON THE PERMISSION SLIP (INCLUDING YOURS, IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND). Once the decision is made about lunch, it can not change, as I have to let our lunch room and the The Varsity know how many lunches to expect. Thanks for understanding! Please email me with any questions: [email protected] Happy news!!!
We are only lacking a few students to finish their MAPS testing... sooooooo.... CONNECTIONS will start back on Tuesday!!! Tuesday will be a "B" day! Just wanted to make sure the students are prepared for their connections class! I have found that RP.3c
( Find a percent of a quantity as a rate per 100 (e.g., 30% of a quantity means times the quantity); solve problems involving finding the whole, given a part and the percent) seems to give the students the most difficulty. I have found the following websites that might be of some help. :-) Writing and Solving Percent Problems http://www.sophia.org/tutorials/writing-and-solving-percent-equations?pathway=ccss-math-standard-6rp3c Using Ratios to Solve Percent Problems http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLnIkFmW0ticPm5BvVZc7_ZIZpSIrT7q14 Percents as Fractions http://www.ck12.org/user:bHlhLnNuZWxsQGhlbnJ5LmsxMi5nYS51cw../book/CCGPS-Grade-6-Mathematics-Henry-County-Schools-Flexbook/r170/section/2.9/ I hope everyone is staying inside, warm and safe! This is a great time to catch up on studying while all of those "extracurricular" activities are cancelled. Obviously, I can't send home the math study packet like I had planned, but I have scanned the packet and attached it below. It is WAY MORE than your child probably needs, but you can scan through and print the pages needed. I am also attaching the answer key. This can help make it self-checking and let your child check their own progress. Our Unit 4 test is still scheduled for Tuesday, February 18. Email me with any questions! [email protected]
