Busy, busy week as we continue to refine our skills in dividing fractions - both visually, using fraction bars and number lines, and solving with the algorithm. The algorithm I have offered to help students remember the steps in division of fractions; K - keep the first fraction F - flip the second fraction C - change the sign Monday - day of relaxation...maybe complete some TenMarks lessons???? (I reloaded NS.1 - dividing fractions, NS.2 - long division, and NS.3 - decimal operations) Tuesday - Make-up and tie up loose ends day....finish the task cards and the Decimal Diner Task. Pass out 4 fraction examples for students to keep in their binders. Homework: 6 fraction problems
Wednesday - Watch instructional videos... Divide Fractions By Whole Numbers: Using Models... https://learnzillion.com/lessons/203-divide-fractions-by-whole-numbers-using-models (5:01) and Use Models For Division Of Fractions By Fractions... https://learnzillion.com/lessons/204-use-models-for-division-of-fractions-by-fractions (4:58) Students take notes and teacher stops to reinforce and clarify throughout. Complete guided practice sheet together identifying *What am I dividing? *How am I dividing it? *What is my equation? Then solve.
Thursday - Students practice with Poly Problem Solvers.
Friday - Complete some more guided practice with dividing fractions. Then take quiz for NS.1 (dividing fractions).
