The students have a study packet, as well as the answers, for this test. Below are some resources that I posted earlier in the year that they can review. I have told them to make sure they can find the various Latin America countries that we have talked about on a map.
Below is an opportunity for your 4-H'er if he/she qualifies...I had two students win over the past five years! Very worthwhile! All applications are due to the DOUGLAS COUNTY 4-H office by November 15. That way they can pick the county winners and send to the state office by Georgia 4-H Communications / Technology Team Need-a-Computer Project Once again, the Georgia 4-H Communications / Technology Team is conducting the Need-a-Computer Project to benefit 4-H’ers across our state. The team is refurbishing desktop computers that will be available to 4-H’ers on a need basis. Computers will be a Pentium III, 850 MHz, with a minimum of 256 megs of memory and 20 gigs of hard drive. Machines also include a monitor, keyboard, and mouse. The machines are internet ready, but may not have a modem. Computers will have a one month warranty from the date they are picked up from Georgia 4-H. To be eligible to receive a “free” computer: 1. 4-H’er must be of Cloverleaf, Junior, or Senior age. 2. 4-H’er must complete the Need-A-Computer application. 3. 4-H’er must complete the 4-H Activities form. 4. In addition, 4-H’ers must write an essay stating their need for a computer. The essay should be no more than one page in length. 5. Priority will be given to those 4-H’ers without a computer at home. 6. 4-H’ers must also have a reference form completed by a minister, teacher, school counselor, etc. The reference should not be a 4-H/Extension personnel, parent/guardian, family member or relative. Please remember that we have a very limited number of computers to award and that this is a statewide contest. At the present time, we have only 10 computers to award this year. All applications will be judged by a non-biased committee. RULES: -No more than 3 applications per county will be accepted. -Since we have such a limited number of computers, no more than two (2) 4-H’ers from the same county will be named as winners of the computers. -Should you have a 4-H’er who receives a computer, we will also need your county to pick it up at 4-H Fall Forum on Sunday, Dec. 15th. No computers will be mailed. -4-H’ers who are awarded a computer are required to submit copies of Thank You notes to the 4-H Communications/ Technology Team. Tips for Successful Applications: ►Make sure your 4-H’ers use the check-off list on the application to aid them in assuring their application is complete. ►Check the spelling on applications and in applicant essays. ►Check essays for grammar. ►4-H’ers need very strong reference letters. ►References should not be parents/guardians, family members/relatives or 4-H/Extension personnel; Extension personnel are asked to provide additional comments on the applicant in the space provided on the form. ►Adhere to the deadlines! This is very important! ►Note: 4-H’ers who already have a home computer (somewhere in the home) are less likely to be successful applicants. Should you have any questions, please contact Cheryl Varnadoe at 706-542-4H4H or [email protected] Sincerely, Cheryl Varnadoe, Coordinator, Georgia 4-H Communications / Technology Team & 2013-2014 members of the Georgia 4-H Communications / Technology Team
Group B will have their test on Unit 2 on Tuesday. Although I feel the extra few days have really made a difference, we will continue to refine our skills on Monday by self-correcting the study packet that went home last Thursday. This packet should be completed when students some to class Monday.
Expect the graded test to go home on Wednesday, Nov. 6th. As homework on Wednesday, students will correct each item missed and explain why they think the item was missed (careless mistake, didn't understand, didn't read the problem carefully, reversed numbers, etc.). November 6
